Biography

Yusef Saife was born in Tucumán, Argentina in November of 1996, but grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from ages three to nine, reason why he had to learn two languages at an early age. He then experienced both sides of two very different cultures and that had a great impact in the way he perceives the world. Coming back to Argentina, he fell in love with music when he first saw his grandfather's piano, who was a renowned poet and composer from Tucuman (Osvaldo "Chichí" Costello). He entered music school for classical piano at the National University of Tucuman (UNT), and took additional jazz piano private lessons. When he was 15, he started to write music and sing, but put a stop to his musical education from 19 until he graduated filmmaking school at 22.

Yusef's first appearance in the music scene was in 2013 in the Buenos Aires jazz festival on jam session in La Trastienda. He was finalist in The Voice Experience (sponsored by Sony Music) in Buenos Aires, 2016. In 2018 he won a local talent contest named "Tu Lugar TV" which prize was a payed tour to the United States. That same year, he participated again in Buenos Aires Jazz Festival and shared a performance with Norma Winston.  In 2019 he participated on Berklee on the Road: Bogotá and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend EMMAT, Berklee's global partner in Colombia. The next year, he was awarded the World Tour Full Tuition Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music and resumed his musical education in 2020. He then moved to Valencia, Spain to complete a one year study abroad program in Berklee Valencia Campus, where he was influenced by flamenco and middle eastern styles. He finally moved to Boston in 2022 where he studied with professionals such as Lisa Thorson, Donna McElroy and Peter Eldrigde. He performed as a soloist in Berklee Singers Showcase Synchronicity in the Berklee Performance Center, will perform again as a soloist in the Alicia Keys edition of 2023 in the MGM Music Hall Fenway and is graduating as a Professional Music Major in May 2023.

My Mission

On a personal level, music has always been the only constant that kept me going whenever I had to face difficult times… And that’s why I dedicate my life to writing about my little universe, rearranging pieces, producing and singing songs; connecting and healing through sound. After experiencing the music and culture of eight countries, and by fighting the ambiguity of my identity and accepting who I really am, I feel ready to share my artistry with the world.
